HUTTEliHUT Alpaca Wool Rabbit Knit Hat - Camel

A beautiful handmade hat using the softest Alpaca wool (considered superior to cashmere due to the fineness and length).

The wool used for Huttelihut's hand-knitted baby clothes come from Alpaca and Ilama farmers in the Bolivian highlands. The animals roam freely in their natural mountain habitat and can only be identified by a wool tassel attached to their ear. Huttliehut's Bolivian production is Fairtrade certified ensuring decent working conditions and a fairer deal for farmers.

The Alpaca wool is then hand knitted into these gorgeous hats by a large network of Bolivian women. Huttelihut began working with a network of around twenty women, throughout the years this has grown to nearly one hundred talented knitters. The women must work from home so they can look after their children during the day. Once a week they come together in their knitting groups and knit and learn from each other. This allows them to make their own money, giving them more freedom, the opportunity to educate their children and to help their families.
