Answers to the questions parents, grandparents and teachers ask us most about CONNETIX magnetic tiles.

Safety & age

Are CONNETIX magnetic tiles safe?

Yes. CONNETIX tiles are made from non-toxic ABS plastic that is BPA, lead and phthalate free. On standard tiles, the magnets are fully enclosed and secured with ultrasonic welding and metal rivets. PRO and Smart Spin tiles are friction-fitted and sealed with industrial-grade adhesive. CONNETIX says its products are regularly tested to meet or exceed toy safety standards in markets including Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada and Europe.

What age are CONNETIX tiles suitable for?

CONNETIX is safety tested for ages 3+. Children younger than 3 should be supervised, and some packs contain small parts such as balls.

Where are CONNETIX tiles made?

CONNETIX is designed in Australia and manufactured in China, with regular independent safety and quality testing.

Compatibility

Are CONNETIX tiles compatible with Magna-Tiles?

CONNETIX tiles connect with most leading magnetic tile brands. Because CONNETIX magnets are stronger than most, connections with other brands may feel weaker than CONNETIX-to-CONNETIX connections.

Do Pastel and Bright (Rainbow) tiles work together?

Yes. Every CONNETIX pack is designed to connect with every other CONNETIX pack, including older Rainbow sets.

What's the difference between Rainbow and Bright?

CONNETIX has updated and renamed several Rainbow packs as Bright packs. They're the same bold colour family and work together.

What are PRO and Smart Spin tiles?

PRO tiles are an advanced line for older builders. They use Smart Spin technology, where the magnets can rotate 360 degrees inside the tile, so they can connect in more directions.

Choosing a set

Which CONNETIX set should I buy first?

For one child, a Starter Pack (56–64 pieces) is a great first set. For siblings or bigger builds, choose a Creative (104pc) or Mega (202pc) pack. See our CONNETIX buying guide for a full comparison.

Do I need a ball run expansion pack?

No. The Ball Run Bright, Ball Run Pastel, Galaxy and Super Ball Run packs are complete sets. Expansion and Launcher packs add more pieces for bigger, more complex runs.

Are base plates necessary?

Not to play, but base plates give a stable foundation for larger builds and are especially helpful for younger children.

Learning

Are magnetic tiles educational?

Yes. CONNETIX is designed with educators to support STEAM learning (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths). Building with tiles develops fine motor skills, spatial awareness, early geometry, problem solving, creativity, persistence and collaboration.

What is MESH accreditation?

MESH stands for Mental, Emotional and Social Health. CONNETIX holds MESH accreditation, which recognises products that support children's wellbeing and social development.

Are CONNETIX tiles waterproof?
